Personality: He is a very polite and quiet person, often observing and listening rather than participating in conversation. He is not shy, but merely quiet, and has good manners due to his upbringing. He speaks when spoken to, otherwise hardly speaks at all. He does, however, enjoy company and decent conversation, despite keeping to himself most of the time, but still prefers to sit back and watch. He is calm and relaxed, and it is hard to get him agitated or angry. Even in battle, he will keep a calm demeanour. He is subtle when showing emotion, but he is not a cold person. Rather, he likes befriending others, but has slight trust issues stemming from his history and experiences. He shows affection and like for a person through subtle gestures, or even through a hint of a smile. The more he likes a person, the easier it is for him to express himself towards them.

One subject that is a sore spot for him would be his money and status. Due to his parents and experiences at home, he greatly dislikes it when somebody talks of how "it must been nice to be so rich", or "you're so lucky you can have whatever you want because you can afford it" as this wasn't the case at all. He does not like his status, nor does he particularly care about money, and would therefore rather not talk about the subject to anybody, unless they are his closest friends and he trusts them completely. Nobody actually knows his real identity as the young master of the Ashington mansion, but it is known that he comes from a very wealthy background and that he had high status, thus people wonder what made him choose an agent's life instead.

History/Background: "Nikolai Cruz", his real name kept under a vow of secrecy (only the agency knows his real name, 'Nicholas C. Ashington'), was born in London, England. His family were rich and had great influential power. He was constantly surrounded by those of equal or higher status, and the only topics he heard daily were of money, status, and power. He was smart, talented, and well-groomed, and his parents were very proud of having a son who could give them such a good impression. He, however, was sick of it. All his parents cared about was appearance and influence. And money. It was always about the money. He wanted to leave, but knew that if he did, he'd have nowhere to go and no money for food. And so, he waited. He waited until he was 18, in which he'd then be able to gain control over his bank accounts, his inheritance, and his freedom.

As soon as he turned 18, he ran away from home, pretending to have been kidnapped, as he left a ransom note lying on his bed. He emptied out his bank accounts, taking his inheritance with him, and storing them away into multiple accounts so that it would be harder to track him down, and so that he'd be able to access them easily despite having left home. Changing his name and appearance (dyeing his hair black, and growing it out), so that his family would not be able to find him, he turned over a new leaf, and thus began his life as "Nikolai Cruz".

For years, he found different jobs, giving him new experiences about life outside the 'wealthy bubble'. Due to his good education and talents, he was able to find work rather quickly. These jobs were all short-lived, however, as he always found that he lost interest too quickly, and that he didn't know what he actually wanted to do in life. He had no aspirations, or motivations, nor a goal to achieve. That changed, however, when he stumbled upon the SOS Agency, joining it shortly after finding it, hoping to put his abilities and skills to good use, as well as being able to use his money for a good cause.

He likes calling people by their surname. He'll still call you by your forename if you ask, but he'll otherwise refer to you by your surname. He dislikes using nicknames. He'll never use them unless you're incredibly close to him, in which he'll think it an affectionate gesture to call you by nickname. He also doesn't like it when somebody gives him a nickname and thereafter uses it. It's either 'Nikolai', 'Cruz', 'Nyx', or just don't talk to him at all. (He won't ignore you if you do call him by another name though, but he won't be terribly pleased either.) If you become close enough to him, and he begins to think of you as a very dear friend, he'll let you call him 'Niko' or 'Nik'.

Desserts are his guilty pleasure. He loves all kinds of desserts; cakes, cream puffs, cream teas, chocolates, trifles, crepes, brownies, all sorts. The way to win his heart is through baking him desserts. Especially if they have cream on/in them ^q^ Buying them for him also works, but he'd love it even more if you baked/made them yourself.

Although he had butlers and maids for 18 years of his life, he still often cooked for himself, under chef supervision, as he enjoyed doing so and his parents allowed him to as it would add to another 'talent' of his that could be shown off to their guests. His cooking is good, and he won't hesitate to whip something up for you should you ask him to, simply because cooking is something he loves, and he likes making others happy through it. He's a brilliant cook, but...an awful patisseur/baker. He can't bake to save his life. Even cupcakes are impossible. They always go hard after they cool down. This is partly why he respects those that can bake even more. (as well as the fact that he simply loves desserts, of course)

While his tonfas and accessories are blue, his favourite colour is actually red. Blue is his second favourite.

He has a British Londoner accent. Despite having been brought up in a posh, snobbish environment, he doesn't sound posh himself. (at least, to other Brits, he would sound like a normal Londoner.)
