Personality:

Leon is a cheerful, friendly individual. He is very sociable, and enjoys being in the company of others. He keeps a laidback, chilled attitude in life, and is also very optimistic. He is upbeat, and can often be seen with a smile on his face. He is also well-mannered, showing respect unless given a reason not to, and is very courteous. He firmly believes that 'hard work pays off', using it as a life motto of sorts, and thus keeps his focus on his goals, working hard, striving to achieve them. Incredibly hard-working, despite looking relaxed and problem-free most of the time, he also does not give up easily, and gives it his all, no matter what the task. He knows of his own limits, however, and knows when to stop due to his own incapabilities, but not before giving it a second, third, or even sixth try. He has fierce determination, and does not like leaving things unfinished. Once he has been given a task, he will work on it as soon as possible, often working on it solidly without breaks, ploughing through it until it's done. Because of this, however, he sometimes lacks food and sleep, but will revert back to his usual sleep and food schedule after the work is finished.

Leon is also very open-minded, always listening to both sides of the story before coming up with his own opinions. He enjoys passionate debates, either as a listener or participant, and finds it to be very insightful. He has great curiosity, always interested in what people think of current affairs in the news, or opinions on major ongoing issues. He also finds amusement and takes interest in other people's quirks or outlandish hobbies. He is nonjudgemental, claiming that everyone is 'weird' in their own way, including himself, and that others shouldn't be condemned for being unique.

While Leon is friendly and sociable, he does, however, have a few trust issues. Where his personal problems are concerned, he tends to clam up, keeping quiet, hesitating to tell anyone. To him, his problems are his alone, and only his burden to bear. Being the optimist, he believes that...he's been fine so far, so he needn't trouble others with his problems, because he will be okay. He doesn't realise that this is naive thinking, his optimism often clouding his sense of realisticity. This differs on the battlefield, however, as he knows his limits, and hardens his emotions whenever he must fight, knowing that even the slightest slip-up due to emotions getting in the way could cost lives.

Biography:

Born and raised in London, England, to a Chinese family, Leon grew up with strict yet caring parents and an older sister whom he got along well with. His father was a nurse, and his mother, a health visitor, while his sister worked with computers. Growing up, he always admired his sister. She was a big influence in his life, having introduced him to many of his current hobbies and interests, such as soccer, drawing, martial arts, and more. Occasionally, she would also play fight with him, teaching him self-defense and martial arts moves she'd learnt from when she was his age. Eventually, he began taking proper martial arts lessons, and chose Wing Chun, while dabbling in Hung Leng Self Defense, as he wanted to learn practical skills that could be used in everyday life situations, and was also partially influenced by one of his idols, Donnie Yen. He thoroughly enjoyed it, and was actually good at it, having been a very sporty and active person since he was a child.

By the time he entered secondary school, he already knew what career path he wanted to pursue. He wanted to put his skills to good use, however, and not just keep them as a hobby. His sister, realizing his potential, introduced him to Milizia Academy, encouraging him to apply as she thought he'd do well there. His parents, however, disapproved. They wanted him to pursue a career in the medical field as they did, having had enrolled him in a prestigious secondary school. During those years, he studied hard, pleasing his parents by getting top grades, just to humour them. While his parents only wanted what they thought was best for him, they did not take his feelings into account and had an ironclad ideal of his future, one they’d wanted for themselves but couldn't have, and therefore pushed the expectations onto him. But Leon didn’t want to follow in his parents’ footsteps. Not at all. And so, he applied for Milizia after graduating from secondary school, leaving home despite his parents' lack of consent, intent on paving his own future.

Upon entering Milizia as a freshman, he quickly became accustomed to the daily routines, the training, exercise drills, and the complete discipline shown by all. Rather, he was used to it as his secondary school only expected the most disciplined of students, and he was never one to break the rules or underachieve. While the vigorous training proved challenging, he was fit enough to keep up, and rather enjoyed the challenge. Pushing his body until it ached only gave him a sense of accomplishment. Through the years, he grew up both physically and mentally, the first mission hardening him and making him more determined than ever to strive only for the best. Not once did he regret his decision to enroll. He was a model student, achieving top scores, always giving it his all, showing an eagerness to be there and to prove his worth. And he really enjoyed it there, thriving in the work and training, while also keeping a social stance by often interacting with his peers, acting as a peacemaker and big brother of sorts due to his cheery, open nature. He learnt so much at the Academy, having researched and studied up on guns in his free time, outside of classes, knowing that he needed to be well-knowledged if he wanted to achieve the best.

After the second mission, however, his determination wavered. The mission failure dented his confidence, and although he did his best, although he worked so hard to prove his worth, the results were still clear. He spent a lot of time thinking about his past accomplishments, what it all amounted to, and if he was willing to press on regardless. While the Academy was under repairs, relocating elsewhere, he visited home, returning to his family only for the duration of the Academy's renovation. Visiting his family, especially his sister, allowed him to regain his composure and organise his thoughts rationally again. His sister encouraged him to get back up on his feet, and to only learn from the failure, not dwell on it. Her words had a big impact on Leon, and he was now determined more than ever to prove himself, having regained his confidence in himself thanks to his sister, knowing that the mission failure was just a lesson in life. He could only learn from them afterall, and he was confident that he could do even better next time.

Shortly after, he received an announcement that Milizia was opening applications for officer positions, and without hesitation, applied, thinking that this was a good opportunity to redeem himself for having faltered in the first place, and to prove to his parents that, despite the mistakes he's made in the past, this was the best decision he'd ever made, and that they should be proud of him no matter what he chooses. He had to prove that he was worth something, that he was capable of achieving great things, and that this was the path meant for him, not Medicine.
